What is your invention called?
My invention is called Plastic Masterpiece Maker.
What is the purpose of your invention?
The purpose of my invention is to help eliminate plastic waste from going into the Ocean and Lakes.
How does your invention work?
You put the plastic in the shredder and it shreds it up, then it goes to the melter down a conveyor belt. By using the tablet, you select what you would like the plastic to be made into. Then your item goes into the colouring room and gets coloured. Your masterpiece is then complete!
What does your invention look like?
Name the basic components/features of your invention.
The shredder is where the plastic goes in. Once it is shred, it goes to the melter. From the melter (once your design is ready) it is created and it goes to the colour room for final details!
How do you think you could measure the impact of your invention?
To measure the impact of my project, there will be less plastic waste going into our waters, and less animals getting hurt from the waste.
What are the main problems that inspired your invention?
The main problem that inspired my invention is the litter and waste going into the ocean and lakes.
Why are these problems important to you?
I want people to care about cleaning up oceans and to stop littering the oceans.
In your opinion, what should other people do every day to help keep the oceans clean?
Reuse items that would have been thrown away and instead of putting litter in the oceans and lakes, recycle them!
ABOUT THE INVENTOR
My name is Erica. I am now 10 years old and live in Ontario, Canada. I am glad I live so close to Lake Huron and love going to the beach. I have a cat named Aster and a fish named Tulip. I have an aunt who is a Marine Biologist and I love that she wants to take care of the oceans too. I love to make crafts, paint, make new inventions with Lego and write stories. When I grow up I want to be an astronaut and explore outer space.
